Health is the ability to realize our avowed and unavowed dreams.

A warm welcome

Hello, I am Verena Farnbacher

Born and raised in Vienna, I later spent many years living by Lake Chiemsee before settling in Salzburg. From a young age, I was introduced to alternative healing methods, meditation, various movement practices, and healthy nutrition, which sharpened my awareness and eventually led me to discover FELDENKRAIS®.

In 1995, I completed my training as a FELDENKRAIS® practitioner (Vienna 1), and in 2017, I became an Assistant Trainer. Through this journey, I’ve learned to better understand my potential, integrating what I’ve discovered into my daily life. I find joy in teaching and sharing my ever-expanding knowledge and experiences.

Over the years, my expertise has deepened through my work in different cultures, including Brazil, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Russia. There, I helped train new FELDENKRAIS® practitioners and supported children with special needs—a role I continue to cherish.

Thanks to FELDENKRAIS® and its integration into my life, I enjoy exceptional health and fitness. This knowledge enhances my other movement practices, which include modern dance, dance theater, tango, martial arts (such as capoeira, ninjutsu, kalari, and yiquan), as well as sports like hiking, mountain biking, freeride skiing, rock climbing, and kite surfing. I also teach Feldenkrais®-based yoga, a passion that has enriched my life for many years.

Family life with Thomas (who also became a FELDENKRAIS® trainer), and our two children—Yasmin (a FELDENKRAIS® teacher and mother) and Daniel—was a beautiful journey of learning and growing together at Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria.

My academic background is in physiotherapy, which I pursued after deciding to leave medical school after its pre-clinical phase. I sought a more holistic approach to health and well-being, which I ultimately found in the FELDENKRAIS® method.

"In November 2018, I was kitesurfing in Brazil with the goal of jumping as high and far as possible. Unfortunately, the conditions were so extreme that after a 10-meter jump, I went into freefall and landed hard on my chest. I lost my breath for about 30 seconds and had to be rescued by fellow kitesurfers who brought me back to the beach. My vacation was cut short, and the pain was intense. Once home, I sought help from my trusted osteopath, who treated my chest and arms two times a week—but the relief was always short-lived.
In January 2022, I met Verena at Boa Vista and told her that I still wasn’t pain-free when kitesurfing or climbing. She listened carefully, asked me to lie down, and began her treatment. At the time, I didn’t expect much since, as an extreme athlete, I was used to more intense forms of therapy. But when she finished, I moved my arms and was amazed—the pain had vanished. At first, I thought it wouldn’t last, but I was wrong. Almost three years later, I’m still pain-free and able to enjoy my sports without any limitations."

"I have been attending Verena's yoga classes for over 20 years. The success: from an unathletic 40-year-old with poor posture to a 60-year-old with body tension. It's never boring because Verena always incorporates new elements. I particularly appreciate the fact that nothing is forced, but you are constantly developing."

"The new body feeling after your FK lesson has stayed with me. I no longer have the feeling of having to work against a force that is hindering me. My right hand still doesn't fall asleep. And what is a great feeling is that I no longer stagger and no longer get dizzy when I jerk my head. I'm back in control of my body, so to speak."
